JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Employee Relations Specialist serves as a trusted resource for employees and leaders by promoting positive employee relations, ensuring consistent application of company policies, and supporting a respectful, compliant workplace. This position conducts workplace investigations, advises management on employee issues, helps resolve conflicts, and supports employee engagement initiatives while minimizing organizational risk.

Essential Functions

  1. Respond to employee concerns and workplace complaints.
  2. Conduct employee relations investigations involving policy violations, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and workplace conduct issues.
  3. Prepare thorough and accurate investigation documentation and summaries.
  4. Partner with managers to address performance, conduct, attendance, and behavioral concerns.
  5. Provide guidance on company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
  6. Recommend appropriate corrective actions and assist with disciplinary processes.
  7. Support conflict resolution and facilitate discussions between employees and management when appropriate.
  8. Monitor trends in employee concerns and recommend proactive solutions.
  9. Assist with unemployment claims, employment verifications, and related HR matters.
  10. Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  11. Participate in employee engagement and culture initiatives.
  12. Assist HR leadership with special projects and organizational initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Required Education and Experience

  1. 4 year degree
  2. 3-5 years of Employee Relations experience. 
  3. Experience conducting workplace investigations. 
  4. Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. 4 year degree e Degree
  2. Experience working with all levels of leadership in an organization 
  3. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification. 
  4. Multi-state employee relations experience. 
  5. Experience supporting large, geographically dispersed workforces.
