Job Overview

The purpose of the Staff Accountant role is to assist in the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements. The major duties involved are recording journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts. This function is highly important to the organization because it allows for review of company and/or market performance and facilitates decision-making.

In this role you will

1. Records monthly journal entries.
2. Prepares monthly account reconciliations and research variances.
3. Obtains and organizes documentation requests in connection with various audits.
4. Review and analyze assigned trial balance accounts for fluctuations.
5. Continual review of process documentation and update as needed.
6. Performs other ad hoc analysis as needed.

Required Education and Experience

1. 4-year degree.
2. One to three years of general accounting experience.
3. Proficient with Excel

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Experience in a retail company
2. Great Plain experience a plus
3. Payroll experience a plus
